This is where we live

I had a little 're-jig' of our living room today, hiding things, displaying others. I think it looks nice.

I can decide whether roses look better dead or alive...?

A little bit chilly...but I like it!

We found an out side swimming pool near to where we live today, I don't know what it is about outdoor pools but I love them, it's a much more pleasurable experience than our local inside-over crowded-filthy-far-too-hot pool. Check out the sky though, it wasn't the perfect weather and I did loose the feeling in my hands, but totally worth it.

Jump up, jump up and get down

Today I discovered the Urban Outfitters sale...it was awesome! To be honest, I normally find it very hard to find anything I like in there, not today!

This is my awesome jumpsuit.

Homemade Hand-picked Jam

You can't get much more home made than this jam - I made it with the strawberries and blackcurrants that we picked, and kind of made it up as I went along - here's how:

You will need:
300g Blackcurrants
780g Strawberries
2lb Sugar
3tbs Lemon Juice
Knob of butter

Put the blackcurrants in a little water in a pan and bring to the boil. boil until they have reduce into a pulp.

Put the strawberries in a pan with the lemon juice and heat for about 20 mins until they have gone soft, stir regularly.

Take both pans off the heat when they are ready and put both contents into one pan and add the sugar. Stir until all the sugar is totally dissolved.
Place back on the heat and bring to the boil for about 20 minutes (check at 15). Make sure the jam has set properly (you can see how to do this here) and pop into some jars.

You can get creative with some nice labels, and you can decorate the top with some nice fabric.
Make sure you write the date on, the jam can last for about a year if jars are properly steralized.

There's not much better than jam on toast me thinks!

Grey Grey Summer

When the weather is as rubbish as this in the middle of the summer, its easy to start to hibernate again. I've been resisting this urge because although it's grey and drizzly it's still kind of warm, so we went strawberry picking.

Strawberries and black currants

It's hard to take a good photo when you're stuffing your face with freshly picked strawberries!

Mr seems to be getting the hang of this photography malarky, I really like this one.

I love this one - two of my faves!

Jam recipe coming up next...

C'est Fini!!!

Leading on from my previous post - we've finished the house!
And this is what it looks like now....

My bike has become rather redundant because we live up a MASSIVE hill...but I thought the mint looked very nice in its new home.

We've gone minimal in the bedroom, and have used old fruit crates as bedside tables.

I've spent a lot of time in here!

I have to thank Pinterest for my inspiration for this one! This was the most fun part of all of our decorating, theres something satisfying about painting black after weeks of painting everything white.
