weddingy things

I went to a wedding fair on Sunday, and it was actually pretty good! I never thought I'd say that, but now I can check that box and carry on with my life. The main thing that attracted me to this wedding fair in particular was the venue - Battsea Arts Center - and it didn't disappoint, beautiful mosaic floors, domed ceiling windows and stained glass, it was pretty beautiful to say the least.

The fair was called the Miss Vintage Wedding Affair and it was full of beautiful vintage lace, bespoke handmade stockings, tea cups that doubled up as wine glasses and lots of lovely vintage treasures and treats in between. My dear Rose travelled up from the Isle of Wight to play with me and to make it an extra special day out we had our hair and make up done by the wonderful Lucy at Hair That Turns Heads. We then spent the rest of our time there playing in the photo booth that WeNotMe set up, needless to say we were happy bunnies and left with a smile on our faces.

I was too busy having fun to take many photos, but here are a couple the Rose and I managed to capture.

Vintage Wedding Fair Hair

A couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine put on a vintage wedding circus with The Hurly Burly. I ended up doing a vintage hair salon there, it was so much fun! It did make me contemplate it for a new career direction, but brides scare me a bit.

Don't they all look beautiful! You can hire the Hurly Burly for weddings, they are great people and they sure know how to have a good time!

Spring has Sprung

I have been very dubious about using the term spring...with days so unseasonably mild that taking off your jumper was OK in February and the daffodil's showing their happy little heads over a month ago the words "Spring" and even "Summer" were starting to be thrown around. I was not having any of it, it was wrong to use these word so early in the year and we are all bound to be left with bitter cold disappointment when the late February snow comes and shatters all of our great expectations for an early Spring and even earlier Summer.
But now it is March...so it's OK!
We've been really trying to make to most of every sunny day, and here in Brighton it's been beautiful!

The lovely Hove beach huts.

We found a great new walk just out of the City and there were lambs..too cute.

A very good friend of mine is getting married in a few weeks and her hen party is at the end of the month. She has decided on a WW2 theme, which I think is fantastic! We are having some work done on the house at the moment so every penny counts, so this meant that I had to get my creative juices flowing and make my fancy dress. First things first...what to go as?? After hours of trawling the internet I settled on 'Army Pin-up'. So using a pair of old mans trousers (perfect green colour) I fashioned a pencil skirt and slightly risque top (it is a hen party after all!!), I'm really happy with how it came out and cant wait for the night! So along with some red lips and victory rolls I'm ready to go.
I'll put up a victory roll tutorial later in the week :)

Then I went for a few days on the Isle of Wight and saw all my favourite people...

This is Claire, she is one of the most amazing people I know and my best friend.

My beautiful goddaughter Lilly trying to reach the sun.

The wonderful Rose and her new bestie Billie

Leaving the Island there was some working going on in the sea, it reminded me of Battersea Power Station.

Now it's Spring I can start to appreciate the beauty of Brighton again.
I love it!!

Happy Spring everybody

3 Good Things.

  • We had a date tonight at the cinema and watched The Artist. Oh my! What a wonderful movie! If I could be in any era it would have to be the 1920's...(it got me practising finger waves in my hair)
  • There's nothing that gets you in the mood for exercise more than getting new gym clothes, I invested in some purple, yes purple, tracksuit bottoms...They.Are.Great.
  • Bolognaise the second time round, it always tastes so much better.
